Project History

A closer look at Washtenaw Avenue has made it evident there is a disconnect between the community needs, the types of businesses and services provided, and accessibility to these areas.  Despite significant opportunities, the communities along Washtenaw Avenue including the City of Ann Arbor, PIttsfield Township, Ypsilanti Township and the City of Ypsilanti, have struggled to see the character of growth desired for the corridor, and experience pressure for greenfield development in outlying areas of their communities. 

Below are documents which provide more background information on the data gathered, as well as the Vision for the corridor that these communities, as part of a larger Washtenaw Avenue Action Team drafted in 2009.
